Haiti - Economy : +0.9% inflation in November

For the month of November 2017, the General Consumer Price Index (base 100 in August 2004) is 324.6 against 321.8 the previous month, showing + 0.9% monthly, the same growth rate as the previous month. Year-on-year (last 12 months) inflation stands at 13.7%, slightly better than November 2016 where inflation was 14.2%.

The monthly increase in inflation of 0.9% is mainly the result of the behavior of consumption functions : "Food, Beverages and Tobacco" (+ 1.0%), "Clothing, Textiles and Footwear" (1.0%), "Development, Equipment and Housing Maintenance "(+ 1.1%) and" Health "(+ 1.6%).

The positive variation in the "Food, Beverage and Tobacco" index, which represents more than 50% of the household budget, stems, among other things, from the increase of : meat, on average (+ 2.2%), chicken (+ 1.7%) , fresh fish (+ 1.6%), cod (+ 1.4%), coconut (+ 1.8%), avocado (+ 1.1%), banana (+ 1.6%), giraumon (+ 1.3%), pumpkin, pumpkin (+ 1.5%), eggplant (+ 1.4%), cabbage (+ 1.4%), carrots (+ 1.4%), tomatoes (+1.7%) %), yams (+ 1.3%), malanga (+ 1.5%), cassava (+ 1.4%), potatoes (+ 1.5%), potatoes (+ 1.4%), the real tree (+ 1.7%), orange (+ 1.0%), chadec (+ 1.2%), papaya (+ 1.8%) and lemon (+ 1.7%).

The rise in the "Apparel, Fabrics and Footwear" index is linked particularly to the prices of : fabric (+ 0.9%), men's trousers (+ 1.0%), t-shirt (+ 1.1%), T-shirt women (+ 2.7%), clothing (+ 1.7%), shoes and tennis (+ 1.5%) and sandals (+ 1.1%).

The increase in the "Accommodation, Equipment and Maintenance" index is attributable to the increase in prices of : mattress (+ 1.1%), bed linen (+ 2.3%), curtains (+2.0) %), groundwater (+ 1.0%), home-made stoves (+ 1.6%), detergent (+ 1.0%) and domestic workers' wages (+ 2.1%).

Finally, the increase in the "Health" index is due to prices of : medicines (+ 1.0%), fees paid to doctors (+ 2.1%), laboratory analysis, radiography (+ 1.0%) and hospitalization expenses (+ 1.3%).
