Weather conditions remain wet and unstable in the Caribbean due to a frontal system moves slowly on Haiti in Northeast direction and should leave our territory by Monday evening to get away to the North. Monday, an improvement of the weather is foreseen, the showers will be still present on the country, but they will be less numerous and intense.

Consequences, rain showers, sometimes sustained are still expected on the country this weekend especially this Sunday. The frequency of these showers will be greater in the northern region of the country with rain totals in 24 hours ranging from: 70 to 180mm over the North West, North and also from 50 to 80mm on the Nippes and the Grande-Anse.

Saturday morning in the Nippes the rivers Despins, Plaisance, are in recession, also a decrease in teh water level in downtown Petit-Trou de Nippes. In the town of Baradères, flooded since Friday the water level has also declined however, caution remains in place, the notice to floods and landslides still being in force. That same day, the Directorate of Civil Protection informed us of a landslide, caused by showers in the department of North West, blocking the passage to trucks at the level of Ballade, between Port-de-Paix and Chansolme. Public works have been warned for urgent intervention.

In view of the rain accumulations already recorded and the forecasts for this weekend particularly on the North-West, the North, the Nippes and the Grand'Anse as well as the South-East and the West for this Sunday, the hydro meteorological unit of Haiti (UHM), together with the Permanent Secretariat for Risk Management (SPGRD), asks residents of flood, landslide... area to remain vigilant and to apply the usual safety instructions.
