Thursday at the National Police Academy on the Route of Frères, Michel Ange Gédéon the Director General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) accompanied by among others Menos Colombe Emilie Jessy, the Minister of Tourism and Secretary of State for Public Security Ronsard St Cyr attended the graduation ceremony of the 3rd Promotion of the Tourist Police (PoliTour).

Michel-Ange Gédéon and Ronsard St Cyr, did not fail to praise and encourage the initiative of PoliTour, before handing them their certificates.

The 41 police officers and 13 supervisors (44 men and 10 women) of this 3rd Promotion, who started their training in mid-November 2017 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-22731-haiti-tourism-beginning-of-training-of-the-3rd-promotion-of-politour.html have sworn in this ceremony to defend the cause of tourism.

Recall that the PoliTour, created under the Minister of Tourism Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin in 2013 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-8356-haiti-security-acceleration-of-the-creation-of-the-tourist-police.html has for mission is to monitor the tourist sites and monuments of the country, guide tourists and take action against any individual adversely affecting the tourism sector.

Minister Menos welcomed them, saluting their courage and urging them to remember and observe every word of their oath.

In his speech Michel-Ange Gédéon recalled "[...] From time immemorial, there has always been interpenetration of peoples in a logic of peace, exchange, distraction, discovery and living together. It is in this logic that tourism is an activity of discovery of other places for its joy and pleasure.

We must have fun in confidence, safe from danger, in a serene and quiet climate. This gives meaning to a police force responsible for securing tourists and tourist activities. Tourism is essential nowadays, as a key vector for economic growth of Haiti. The dominant concern of the public authorities is to place this country on the tourist map of the world in general and the Caribbean in particular [...]"
