Haiti - Security : Graduation of the first promotion of the tourist police

Friday, as part of activities of the World Tourism Day was held at the Police Academy in Frères (Petionville) the graduation ceremony and the presentation of parchments of the first promotion of the Tourist Police of Haiti (PoliTour).
According to Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin this contingent composed of 52 agents, will be responsible for monitoring the important tourist attractions of the country, guiding tourists and take action against any person by their actions affecting the tourism sector
In addition to their police training, these officers of the Politour also received courses related to tourism, languages and geography.
Were present at the ceremony some members of the government including, Me Jean Renel Sanon, the Minister of Justice, Godson Orélus the Director General of the National Police of Haiti, John Thompson and Dennis E. Kelly came from New Orleans, respectively Executive Director of the National Sherifs Association, and Project director for Pegasus Program implementation team, as well as representatives of the diplomatic and consular corps and political leaders.
