Haiti - Politic : The Minister of Defense front a parliamentary commission

In the framework of a working session this week on the functioning of the Armed Forces of Haiti, Hervé Denis, the Minister of Defense answered questions from the Standing Committee "Defense and Border Development" of the Lower House, chaired by the Deputy of Anse-à-Pitre Bel-Ange Pierre (FUSION).

On the agenda of discussions among others : the possible application of the law on the operation of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H); the last press note on Reservists signed by the Commander-in-Chief (Ai) of the FAD'H https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24072-haiti-notice-the-demobilized-soldiers-are-part-of-the-reservists.html ; the recruitment process for young people in Gressier and the urgent needs of the Ministry of Defense in the context of the 2017-2018 amending budget.

In his speech, Deputy Pierre drew the attention of Minister Denis on the status and behavior of demobilized soldiers in order to avoid the constitution of a force parallel to the FAd'H. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24165-haiti-army-ineffective-threats-against-false-military.html https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24063-haiti-notice-the-ministry-warns-and-threatens-the-fake-soldiers.html

Following the recommendations made by the members of the Commission, Minister Denis promised to do everything in his power to follow up on the files dealt with, however he stressed "[...] with regard to the rules of procedure of the FAd'H, law is not necessary."
