Haiti - FLASH : Former soldiers will train our new soldiers

Hervé Denis, the Defense Minister, said his ministry would recruit former demobilized military instructors to train the new soldiers, stating that the recruitment would be "on the same lines as those used to recruit members of the High Staff of the Army of Haiti."

Regarding the troop strength, Minister Denis said that the process of enlisting soldiers interrupted last year will be relaunched https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-21481-haiti-flash-the-army-recruits-call-for-candidates.html stating that due to budget constraints, only 500 military will be recruited this year, the remaining target of 5,000 men at the end of the term of office of the Government in 4 years.

Recall that Minister Denis had already acknowledged the lack of budget and the weakness of the Haitian economy, on April 18 before the Standing Senate Committee "Defense and Armed Forces" where he had declared that he counted on the help of the friendly countries of Latin America, especially Ecuador, Brazil and Mexico to support our army https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24150-haiti-flash-minister-denis-counts-on-friendly-countries-to-finance-our-future-military.html

The former Director General of the National Police and former officer of the FAd'H Mario Andrésol, strongly criticizes the decision of the Ministry to recruit former military "obsolete" as Instructor. He recommends instead training instructors, who will then train our future soldiers emphasizing that the remobilization of the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd'H) must be done seriously and not subject to the constraint of a political calendar of the Executive.
