Haiti - FLASH : Haitians flee Azua for fear of bloody reprisals
Following the assassination last April 25, of Juan de Dios Castro on his farm in the community El Ganadero in Azua (South of the Dominican Republic), by 3 Haitians, the 2 sons of the victim Ruddy and Juancito Castro Filpo and close to the family, in front of the slowness of the police investigation speaks only to avenge their father.

They say that if the police do not stop within 24 hours, the Haitian criminals who killed their father "[...] we will take two guns and we will persecute the Haitians... and everyone we suspect we will kill them. Maybe they say they are innocent, but our father was a dog for them apparently [...]"

Hate speech circulates among a population appalled by the murder of this highly respected farmer, pushing Haitians to flee Azua for fear of reprisals and to protect their lives and those of their families.

The daughter of the murdered Riviera farmer Maria Castro Filpo, has appealed through the media to President Danilo Medina "President, I know you are a good man [...] My father has contributed to this community, I know that you will not let his death go unpunished."

The facts: On April 25 at around 5:00 am, farmer Juan de Dios Castro supervised his harvest as usual, he had a machete and carried a legal firearm, which he never needed. In the darkness at least 3 individuals of Haitian origin assaulted him with machetes. The farmer tried to defend himself, wounding one of the assailants with his machete, but thrown to the ground by his attackers he was hit several times with deadly machetes before the attackers stole his gun and fled.

On the same day, the individual injured by the farmer went to the Taiwan Regional Hospital in Azua for treatment. Alerted to the attack by the police, the hospital has warned the police authorities of the arrival of a wounded Haitian suspect Ramsel Sejollr (24 years) who was arrested and confessed to the Dominican law enforcement the aggression, denouncing one of his accomplices a named "Bonell" on the run and actively sought.

The Director of the National Police, General Ney Aldrin Bautista Almonte, claimed to be on the "Bonell" track and that the fugitive will be promptly arrested and made available to the Public Ministry. Faced with the threat of revenge he warned that he would not accept blackmail for the arrest of the guilty and appealed for calm, warning that the police will arrest all Dominicans who incite the population to take revenge on Haitians.

A situation that is reminiscent of the assassination by Haitians last March https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23799-haiti-flash-explosive-situation-in-pedernales-haitians-in-fear.html of a Dominican couple owning a ranch in Le Quemao (Pedernales)
