The Department of Environmental Inspection and Monitoring Education (DEISE) in collaboration with the Departmental Directorate West (DDO) of the Ministry of the Environment conducted this week in Pétion-ville, a session of orientation and capacity building for the benefit of the 60 Environmental Agents from the 20 communes of the West Department https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24017-haiti-environment-deployment-of-60-environmental-agents-in-the-west-dept.html

Speaking on the occasion, Rony Horat, Director of DEISE reiterated his determination to work alongside all these agents for the success of their mandate, saying "This is just the beginning of a whole process of continuous strengthening that comes to be launched [...] Thanks to our experienced trainers, the capacity of these environmental agents will be reinforced on concepts in among others : introduction to the environment, code of ethics and protocols, waste management and the execution of the roadmap in their possession."

For the Agronomist Sonia Orismé, West Departmental Director of the Ministry of the Environment this activity is allied with the vision of the Minister Pierre Simon Georges, reaffirming the commitment of the DDO to work with the population for a better protection of the environment. Ms. Orismé also took the opportunity to announce the upcoming holding of training sessions for local authorities that she said represent the real carriers of sustainable development.

Note that this session benefited from the support of the Directorate of Integrated Watershed Management of Coastal and Maritime Zones through its Director Joseph Emmanuel Phillipe and Mrs. Erva Isaac of the Legal Unit of the Ministry of the Environment.
