Haiti - Diaspora : A Haitian becomes the new «Voice» of Quebec

Sunday evening, as part of the 6th edition of the grand contest "La Voix - The Voice", the soul singer, Yama Laurent (27 years old) Haitian from Léogâne living in Montreal since 2010, after having shaken the public and the social networks at each stage of the contest won unsurprisingly, the victory handily with 60% of the votes of the public, interpreting the ballad written by Garou "A little about us" which speaks of what will happen after "The Voice".

Yama is the sixth winner of "The Voice". She succeeds Valérie Carpentier, Yoan Garneau, Kevin Bazinet, Stéphanie St-Jean and Ludovick Bourgeois. In addition to being the new "Voice" of Quebec, Yama wins a record deal and a $50,000 check.

"Thank you very much to each one of you, it's like an adoption," said Yama Laurent excitedly a few minutes after her victory. "It's just amazing the night I just lived. The former candidates came back so we could all sing together, but I do not want to cry tonight. My mother told me that I was old enough now, I have to assume. This victory was unexpected for me, but I think I'm up to it."

For his coach Garou, Yama was for him a huge artistic discovery "I'm upset forever, I met someone exceptional"

Songs performed by Yama Laurent during the competition :

Duel: "Let It Be" duo with Kelly Bado;

Quarterfinal: "They love each other" Daniel Lavoie;

Semifinal: "Change Is Gonna Come" by Sam Cooke;

Final: "A little of us", a song written by Garou, which talks about what will happen after "The Voice".
