On Tuesday, the presidential candidate Michel Martelly said "the biggest problem to be solved in Haiti is the economy" expressing the hope that the international aid will continue to arrive in the country. He assured that his government will take favorable measures to the investment in Haiti by creating a stable legal framework for foreign investors to promote the country's economy. Stressing that the Dominican Republic will play an important role in the reconstruction process of Haiti through its investments that will be beneficial for the Dominican and Haitian businesses. I promise to eradicate the corruption, to govern the country with transparency and rebuild the trust between citizens and the government if I go to power [...] I represent the change, a new path that is clean, straightforward and transparent". The candidate Michel Martelly said he is open for the debate with her opponent, Mirlande Manigat.

Michel Martelly recalled that would establish a security force to replace the UN troops, recalling, that Edmond Mulet had indicated that the Minustah would withdraw gradually from Haiti over three years from 2012.

Criticized for blaming those who have degrees without having solved the problems of the country, the candidate has put forward his enthusiasm and desire to change his country "I give priority to education for all, in my program, you can not say that I'm against intellectuals and graduates Of course we should seek diplomas, but to lead [a country] we also need a knowledge of the terrain, know-how and above all the willingness [...] no man or woman will be able alone of rebuild this country in the State where it is, the entire population must be included" said the candidate.
