Haiti - DR : More than 11,000 Haitians deported or repressed in Haiti (May 2018) 18/06/2018 11:41:02
The Directorate General of Migration (DGM) reveals that during the month of May 2018 11,227 foreigners in irregular migration situation in the Dominican Republic or not complying with the provisions of Law 285-04 were returned to their country of origin of which more than 11,000 Haitians.
More than 6,000 Haitians were turned back at the border trying to enter illegally or illegally on the Dominican territory while 5,000 others living in the Dominican Republic, were deported after being controlled as illegal by one of the many patrols of the DGM on the Dominican territory. That is more than 50,000 of our compatriots in total for the first 5 months of the year.
A small number of foreigners of other nationalities in irregular migration situations living in the Dominican Republic from Albania, China, the United States, South Africa and Venezuela were also deported.
