Haiti - Politic : The Senate concerned

Senate Speaker Joseph Lambert expresses Senators' concerns about the events that plagued the weekend of July 6-8. The Assembly of Senators, in all its tendencies, deplores the violence perpetrated on people, houses of commerce, private property of entrepreneurs and peaceful citizens. "The Senators' Assembly sends its deep and sincere sympathy to the victims of this very predictable popular fury, following the inadvertent, largely inadvisable, measure of rising prices of petroleum products." https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24881-haiti-flash-the-price-of-gas-explodes-at-the-pump.html

"The Senate notes with relative satisfaction the lull of the beginning of this week which gives the public authorities the time to take appropriate measures to meet the legitimate demands of the people and restore confidence and serenity." He urges the Head of State to ensure the proper functioning of republican institutions and to work for the maintenance of stability and public peace.

In this context, Senator Lambert reaffirms the will of the Senate "to play its role and its constitutional responsibilities as watchdog of democracy and to ensure, as co-depositary of national sovereignty with the Chamber of Deputies, the strict respect of rules of the Rule of Law and the psychological, moral and material well-being of the Nation."
