Haiti - Riots : DR sends more than 2,300 men in reinforcement to protect its territory
Friday, following the recent and violent riots in Haiti https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24897-haiti-flash-3rd-day-of-riots-in-haiti.html Rubén Darío Paulino Sem the Minister of Defense and Ney Aldrin Bautista the Director General of the Dominican National Police confirmed during an inspection tour at the border to Elías Piña, Jimaní, Dajabón (Northeast) and Pedernales (Southwest) that since July 6 riots began in Haiti, 2,300 additional men of the army, the navy and the national police, had been sent in reinforcement, bringing the workforce to the border to 7,500 men, in order to be ready to face a possible massive arrival of Haitians fleeing their country in the case where Haiti would lose control of the situation.

In addition to the Police Director, Paulino Sem was accompanied by 3 Generals and senior officers of the Army and the Terrestrial Border Security Corps (CESFRONT)

Paulino Sem told reporters that his tour was to check if the equipment, vehicles, weapons, ammunition, planes, speedboat (in Manzanillo, Montecristi, Pedernales and Cabo Rojo) and the riot gear and equipment of the police were well arrived and positioned.

At the end of his tour Paulino Sem said the situation was calm and under control at the border.
