Message to the Nation of President Moïse : "Haitian people, My brothers and sisters, My compatriots, Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant handed me his resignation with that of the Government today, July 14, 2018. I accepted his resignation. I thank him with all members of the Government for the sacrifices they have agreed to make to serve the country. Since the events of the past week https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24897-haiti-flash-3rd-day-of-riots-in-haiti.html , I did a lot of consultations, I consulted people who were victims, political parties, civil society, grassroots organizations and many other groups in society. I engaged in dialogue with international partners. I have listened to the demands of all people and sectors, I have analyzed these claims, the State is doing all it can to give them good responses to their demands. When the sectors speak, the leaders must listen to them, that is how democracy will become stronger, that is how the solidarity of the Haitians for one another will become better. My brothers and sisters, Violence does not work with development and democracy, we have to cut bridges with these old practices that are putting the country behind. As Head of State, I have issued instructions to every official in the State, to every person in his or her own interest, to ensure the safety of the lives and property of people across the country. I understand the situation of many compatriots, unemployment, hunger, misery... I work for them. I will continue consultations with all the institutions, the Parliament, the political parties and the sectors organized in society so that I can choose another Prime Minister to lead the Government and gather all the forces in the Nation without wasting time, to form an inclusive Government whose mission will be to relieve the misery of the people, develop agriculture, energy and infrastructure in the country, take all measures and actions to maintain political and social stability, encourage investment to create wealth and conditions that will allow all Haitians live better in their country. Haiti is the greatest good that our ancestors have left us, we have to protect it, develop it, make it more beautiful so that our children and our grandchildren can have a good country, a beautiful country. Haitian people, You have given me a five-year term, as you can see, we have started the work, I will continue, stability, economic and social progress must become a reality in the country of Haiti.
