Haiti - Elections : Piedad Córdoba considers that the situation electoral in Haiti is tense
The return on Friday after 7 years of exile in South Africa, of the former President Jean Bertrand Aristide [aka Titid] has eclipsed for a moment the electoral campaign which ends on the vote tomorrow. A historic moment where the population will have to choose between two candidates Mirlande Manigat and Michel Martelly, the one who will lead the country for the next 5 years.

The former Colombian Senator, Piedad Córdoba, a woman inspired and inspiring, fighting for the human rights, who were present Friday at the Toussaint Louverture Airport of Port-au-Prince during the speech of the Former President Aristide, said that she was "impressed by The welcome given to the former President."

According to Ms. Córdoba "The situation is tense" observing that many supporters of the Former President "asking that the presidential election [Sunday] do not take place [...] There are a great expectations in the street with the people who are opposed to the election" she has found. A normal reaction for a foreign observer, which is probably unfamiliar with the traditional speech of the party of the former President "Fanmi Lavalas".

Piedad Cordoba :
The former Senator Piedad Córdoba was a mediator in the release of the hostages by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) in the case of Ingrid Betancourt. She was ousted last year from her position of Senator and sentenced to 18 years of ineligibility due to her alleged links with the guerrillas.
