Haiti - Politic : Moïse asks $390M to international to eradicate cholera

Tuesday in New York, as part of the 73rd Ordinary Session of the UN General Assembly, President Jovenel Moïse participated in a roundtable on cholera, held at the United Nations Headquarters.

During his speech, he recalled that despite significant progress made in the fight against the cholera epidemic since 2010, the disease continues to claim victims in Haiti, stressing that to eradicate the disease completely by 2022, Haiti needed funding "I am advocating to the UN General Assembly to remind the urgency of continuing international funding to defeat cholera. We will need an estimated US $390 million if we really want to end this epidemic by 2022," adding that Haiti had a plan that is already operational to eradicate cholera Haiti, insisting "If the resources provided are available to us, the elimination of the disease will be within our reach."
