Haiti - Social : The mayor of Tabarre severely brutalized
Stéphanie Auguste, the new Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, in charge of Human Rights and the Fight against Extreme Poverty, condemns with the greatest firmness the serious incident which occurred during the night of October 1st to 2nd, during which the Mayor of Tabarre, the actress Nice Simon, was severely beaten by her husband, Yves Léonard.

"This heinous and disgusting act against a defenseless woman is unacceptable and a flagrant violation of human rights." Recalling that Prime Minister Céaant in his General Policy emphasized that "gender-based violence must be addressed in all its dimensions." In this regard, the Minister Delegate asks the judicial authorities concerned to put public action in motion in order to deal with this matter expeditiously so that justice can be done.

Stéphanie Auguste takes the opportunity to express her solidarity to the victim, as well as to all the women in our society who have been or are the object of all forms of gender violence.

For his part Jean-Marie Reynaldo Brunet Minister of the Interior and Local Authorities in a note said to have learned with "exhaustion" the corporal brutalities, which was victim the mayor of Tabarre. In such circumstances, Brunet says that as the Ministry of Supervision of local authorities it is seriously addressing this case of physical abuse and invites Haitian women, whatever their origin and position, not to be afraid to denounce, all individual posing as a predator of the female sex.
