Haiti - Tourism : The Minister of Tourism concerned 15/10/2018 11:25:08 With tree branches and signs in hand, the students, dressed in their uniforms, chanting slogans hostile to the Government, claimed, among other things, the rebuilding of their schools damaged during the passage of the January 2010 earthquake. The students, however, did not cause any harm, beyond an obvious nuisance to the tourism sector. In a note of reactions, Minister Stephenson expresses her frustration "We learned with dismay of the events that occurred at the Marriot Hotel on October 12, 2018 [...] that taint the image of the national tourism industry. We remind the public that the entire staff of the Ministry, supported by private sector partners, is working to provide the Nation with quality hotel facilities that contribute to our common economic growth [...] We call on everyone to support the effort to enhance our image by respecting the private properties that hotels represent, essential elements to guarantee any development of the tourism sector."
