Haiti - Social : Beginning of the commemorative activities of the 212th anniversary of the death of Dessalines
Friday the commemorative activities of the 212th anniversary of the death of the Father of the Fatherland began by parade in the streets of Croix-des-Bouquets with about 200 schoolchildren from different schools of the commune, after participating in the Polyvalent Training Center at a conference on the Dessalinian ideal led by Carmel Jean Baptiste, career teacher and Emmanuel Estinvil, a technician of the Civic Action Directorate of the Ministry of Youth Sports and Civic Action (MJSAC).

Through this first activity, the MJSAC intends to sensitize young people around national unity, social justice, territorial integrity, national sovereignty, the reconstruction of the economy advocated by the Father of the Fatherland. For Professor Baptiste, "we need to embrace the Dessalinian ideal of social inclusion and the values ​​attached to citizenship, but also adapt it to the current context in order to guide the country towards the path of development."

"Through his vision, his bravery, his determination, his orientation, his desire for freedom, Jean-Jacques Dessalines has allowed us to become a free and independent nation," said Edwing Charles the Minister of Youth to participants before the start of the conference, recalling "life, the politics of inclusion must challenge us. As young people, it is from now on and from our current position that we must develop a conception and a vision of the country," urged Minister Charles to the young people of different schools of the Croix-des-Bouquets who took part of this conference that brought them closer to their history and gave them a reason to work on the development of this piece of land that is ours.

To continue to pay tribute to Father of the Fatherland, the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action will mobilize its technicians to accompany young people during a patriotic vigil and a torchlight march scheduled for Tuesday, October 16 before the sports and youth activities that will take place on Wednesday 17, in particular the Emperor's Marathon will take place on the La Saline-Champs-de-Mars circuit with the participation of several thousand athletes. In football, teams from disadvantaged neighborhoods and community associations will take part in the Emperor's Tournament to be held in the sports centers of the Metropolitan area.

Moreover, music schools, fanfares, cheerleaders and honorary corps will be involved in the realization of the Parade "Tribute to the Emperor" during which more than 3,000 young people supervised by the technicians of the Ministry will walk at the military pace from La Saline to the Pont Rouge on the morning of October 17th.

According to the Minister of Youth Edwing Charles, the Dessalinian ideal will be highlighted through the organization of conferences-debates and other civic and patriotic activities with the support of volunteer brigadiers of the Ministry, who will be mobilized to Marchand Dessalines and at the Pont Rouge.
