Haiti - Reconstruction : Launch of construction of a HQ for Haitian unions 21/03/2011 13:20:04
This construction is made possible thanks to contributions of CUPE and the PSAC, but also of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU - UIES in french), the Union of Public Service in Quebec (SFPQ) and the Alliance of Professional and Technical Staff of the Health and Human Services (APTS). "We are here to launch the new building for the unions" said Claude Généreux, National Secretary-Treasurer of SCFP "We even attended to the cleanup of the land where the new building OF the CTSP Will be built." The delegation also met with the Haitian engineer involved in the reconstruction project. The cost of the reconstruction project valued at nearly $100,000. We are gone further, by providing training to 15 Union leaders, including on the Union financial management. While the international aid does not always have the desired effect, this collaboration interunion, represents our effort in the reconstruction not only of the infrastructure but also of the capacity of unions and to the Haitian civil society."
