Haiti - Elections : The point on the tabulation this Thursday, March 24
The counting of votes has started since March 21 under the supervision of the joint observation OAS / CARICOM (JEOM) and representatives of the two presidential candidates, Mirlande Manigat and Michel Martelly. The JEOM will ensure a continuous presence, twenty-four hours a day, if necessary, in order to observe the operations of tabulation and of verification and also the implementation of recommendations made by the OAS Mission on the verification of the tabulation. The observers will observe the tabulation procedures in order determine if they follow the criteria defined by the Manual of CTV published on the Web page of the organization.

The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) has assured that it will respect the deadline for the publication of preliminary results of presidential elections held last Sunday in Haiti. However it will be necessary to do more that today to meet the timetable, during the last 24 hours only 133 minutes have been tabulated...

For the second round of presidential and legislative elections in Haiti, the progress in the process at the Vote Tabulation Centre (CTV) on March 24, 2011 at 3:36pm was the following:

Total number of minutes : 11,182

Minutes processed (tabulation completed) : 3,823 (34.19%)
Minutes in progress of treatment : 7,126 (63.73%)
Minutes to receive : 233 (2.08%)

Senator:
Total number of minutes : 5,134

Minutes processed (tabulation completed) : 1,233 (24.02%)
Minutes in progress of treatment : 3,760 (73.24%)
Minutes to receive : 141 (2.75%)

Deputy:
Total number of minutes : 9,619

Minutes processed (tabulation completed) : 4,158 (43.23%)
Minutes in progress of treatment : 5,266 (54.75 %)
Minutes to receive : 195 (2.03%)

TOTAL of the Tabulation completed : 9,214 minutes (35.53%)
TOTAL of the Tabulation in treatment : 16,152 minutes (62.28%)
TOTAL of the minutes to receive : 569 (2.19%)
