Haiti - Politic : «Pitit Dessalin» makes an affront to the Haitian flag

On Saturday, during a demonstration of supporters, partisans and activists of the radical opposition platform "Pitit Dessalin", the black and red flag was hoisted at the top of the mat, on the Vertières historic site in the city of Cap-Haitien, provoking strong reactions.

Antonio Jules, the Departmental Delegate of the North, described the incident as "extremely serious" and "shameful for the population", indicating that he had gone to the site that same day to hoist the Haitian bicolor blue and red instead and announces that justice will act against those responsible for this act.

He also confirms that the provisions are made to ensure the safety of the population during the celebration of the 215th anniversary of the Battle of Vertières on 18 November.

For his part Patrick Chrispin, one of the advisors of the President of the Republic on the air of a radio of the capital, pointed the former Senator Moïse Jean-Charles as the head of this act, accusing him of to have "desecrated the Haitian flag" and violated the Constitution, affirming "Even with a crowd of partisans [...] a political leader has no right to desecrate the flag, symbol of the Nation."

He recalls that such actions are punishable by law and asks the judicial authorities to initiate proceedings against Moïse Jean-Charles, the leader of "Pitit Dessalin".
