Haiti - Politic : The Observatory of the youth proposes its proposal of crisis exit
In almost two years of governance characterized by precarious economic situations, chronic political turmoil and difficult social conditions, the Observatory of Haitian Youth is drawing to the attention of political decision-makers to the alarming situation that continues to worsen.

"Considering the climate of tension in recent months across the 10 departments; that the opposition can no longer confine itself in the radicalism; that it is imperative to save the democratic gains and the future of Haiti; that only an overtaking of the political actors and the civil society can leave Haiti of the abyss; that only an 'Extra-Constitutional National Pact' can avoid the worst and that the youth and some structures of the Civil Society, not involved in the crisis constitute one of the rare forces that can invite and initiate a frank dialogue between the main protagonists, The Observatory of Haitian Youth presents its proposal for a way out of the crisis :

  • The immediate opening of discussions between the Executive Branch, the Legislative Power, the Judiciary, the Civil Society structures and the opposition parties, around the mandate of the President of the Republic, and this, under the leadership of civil society organizations that will have to invite and mediate between the various protagonists;
  • The formation of a "Think Tank" at the level of the Civil Society for the planning of the National Conference and a project of society for the next 30 years;
  • Accelerating and installing an atmosphere of trust on the PetroCaribe Inquiry and any other ongoing corruption cases;
  • The opening of discussions between political decision makers and civil society organizations around the electoral law, the law on political parties and the formation of the next Electoral Council;
  • The constitution of a platform within the civil society to discuss and propose for referendum a new Constitution;
  • The opening of an investigation into the massacre of La Saline and the clarification of the status of the members of the police operating in the bodies securing the President of the Republic and the National Palace https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-26176-haiti-flash-the-national-palace-deploys-its-special-unit-equipped-with-weapons-of-war.html and the source of equipment at their disposal https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-26193-icihaiti-denial-the-national-palace-did-not-violate-any-law.html»
