Haiti - Politic : PM promises 50,000 temporary jobs by the end of the year

Monday at Champ-de-Mars, as announced the day before https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-26220-haiti-message-the-pm-calls-to-the-union-and-promises-jobs.html the Prime Minister, Jean-Henry Céant, in search of a social appeasement, launched a program of sanitation of the metropolitan area and the country. He promised in front of a few hundred young people and adults from all over the metropolitan area, came to participate in the event and transported for the circumstance, that despite the limited resources of the State, this program would create nearly 50,000 temporary jobs from here the end of the year.

"We have decided to offer the people an alternative [...] we are determined to remove the people from where they are, the goal is to put 50,000 people to work before the end of the year for the purpose to clean up the country and allow everyone to eat [...]", indicating that it was only a beginning, saying" the best is yet to come" without specifying what was planned later...

Shovels and brooms were distributed to the people in each neighborhood to set in motion this vast two-week sanitation campaign. A fleet of equipment, is mobilized for this program which according to the Office of the Prime Minister will be implemented also in 113 slums of the country.

A announcement well welcomed by most, who do not have a cent in hand, see this program as an opportunity to feed their families during the holiday season, however, others see this announcement as a symbolic political gesture to show that the government is doing something, demanding permanent work "Sweeping the street is not enough, we need continuity [...]".
