While the Government affirms that in the next budget with social dominance, the expenses will be controlled and revised down because of the difficult economic situation; based on the budget (2018-2019) tabled in Parliament before the resignation of the Lafontant Government last August which amounted to 175 billion gourdes https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24810-haiti-economy-next-budget-175-billion-gourdes-up-21.html , followed by a reduction to 166 billion https://www.haitilibre.com/article-25945-haiti-actualite-zapping.html the next budget 2018-2019, would have been finally reassessed up to 170.1 billion according to the Deputy Ghandy Dorfeuille, President of the "Commission Economy and Finance" in the lower house.

However, in any objective economic comparison, it is necessary to compare what is comparable, namely the 2018-2019 budget that should be tabled in the coming days in Parliament (after more than 2 months late), with the one tabled at the beginning of the previous year 2017-2018 which was 144 billion gourde https://www.haitilibre.com/docs/17_18_projet_de_loi_de_finances.pdf or a real increase of 26 billion gourdes, beyond any political demagogy.
