Haiti - Venezuela : Nicolas Maduro threat of reprisals the countries of the Lima Group

Following the vote of a resolution Thursday, January 10, 2019, against the "legitimacy of the regime and the second term of the President of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro" at a special session of the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) voted by 19 countries including Haiti https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-26627-haiti-flash-haiti-votes-against-the-legitimacy-of-the-regime-of-president-nicolas-maduro.html , the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who deems this resolution unacceptable, threatened the member countries of the Lima Group (13 of the 19 countries) with the threat of diplomatic reprisals : Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Guyana and Saint Lucia (with the exception of Mexico, which voted against the resolution).

"A letter of protest has been sent to all the governments of the Lima Group in which we demand a rectification of their position on Venezuela within 48 hours, or the Government of Venezuela will take the fastest and most stringent diplomatic measures," said President Maduro who sees in this approach, the preparation of a coup orchestrated by the United States against his Government.

If for the moment Haiti is spared the threats of reprisals and their consequences, nothing can predict the development of events and their fallout in the coming months...

It should be noted that at the inauguration on Thursday of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, Bolivia, Turkey and Cuba, were among the few countries that attended the ceremony.
