Haiti - Carnival National 2019 : An artistic parade that promises to be very innovative

The 2019 National Carnival Artistic Parade, which will take place once again this year in the city of Gonaïves (City of Independence), on March 3, 4 and 5, 2019, will be announced around the theme "Ann chita pale pour Ayiti" promises to be very innovative.

The Haitian artist Érol Josué, artistic director of the organizing committee of the National Carnival, also Hougan and Director General of the National Bureau of Ethnology (BNE), in developing his concept of the artistic parade, intends to promote the Creole language, the integration, of the intangible and material heritage of Artibonite, as well as the ancestral traditions of Africa and the Amazonian civilization. He also wants to include in the parade, traditional groups of Artibonite holy places of voodoo (Lakou) of Gonaïves.

Érol Josué also suggests the presence of a "pitimi chandèl" queen and his float dedicated to this popular food product in the region.

For his part, Fred Lizaire, Head of musical entertainment has proposed a reduction in the number of floats (allegorical and musical) in the parade, which will be submitted as the stands reserved to the public, to standards of very strict construction to ensure the safety of artists and festival-goers, a proposal that is well received and supported by the other members of the Committee.
