Haiti - FLASH : Mess at the Palace around the commandos of foreigners arrested at PAP
On Tuesday, Me Reynold Georges, the Legal Avider of the President of the Republic who spoke on a radio of the capital, vigorously denied the statements of the opposition and rumors that the commandos of 8 men heavily armed 7 foreigners (5 Americans, a Serb and a Russian) arrested Sunday, February 17 in the capital https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-26963-haiti-flash-a-mysterious-commando-of-heavily-armed-foreigners-arrested-in-port-au-prince.html , worked for the Government, asserting that the Head of State has no connection with these individuals neither near nor far.

According to the version of the Presidential Adviser, these individuals would be a band of professional thieves of high level, came to rob the Central Bank of Haiti (BRH) . According to him, these individuals went Sunday to the BRH to try to have access to the basement where the vault is located under the pretext of verification of security. Their unregistered car aroused suspicion by Bank security officers who alerted the police. [note that the police speak of an arrest during a routine check and do not mention a call from the BRH signaling these individuals...]

In addition, Me Georges rejected opposition accusations that members of the executive tried to press for the release of these individuals, described by the opposition as "mercenaries" at the service of "a State murderer, terrorist and mafia" who would have come to Haiti, according to the opposition, to eliminate embarrassing political figures, including opposition leaders.

He confirms that one of the vehicles used by this commando belonged to the former Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of electoral matters Fritz Jean-Louis, stating "I suppose it is a vehicle stolen by these armed men on their arrival in the country."

However, this version of a gang of thieves who came to rob the Central Bank disagrees with that of Prime Minister Jean Henry Céant who said in an interview with CNN journalist Miguel Marquez, about the armed individuals arrested in Port-au-Prince "These mercenaries were not coming to rob the BRH. BRH officials did not recognize them. They wanted to go up on the roof of the institution in order to dominate the Prime Minister's office and the Parliament as well." Words that imply that the Prime Minister and Parliament could have been the target of this commando...

For his part, the Port-au-Prince Government Commissioner, Paul Eronce Villard, the head of the prosecution in this case, during a press briefing on Tuesday, categorically denied the rumors and allegations of the opposition that they claim that he was under pressure from the Executive and Minister of Justice Jean Roody Aly, to release the men from this commando.

Commissioner Villard stated that he will act independently and impartially in this case and that he will conduct his investigation safely under the law. Stating that there is material to keep in custody these individuals but also to prosecution.
