Tax officials refused to receive payments on the grounds that the amount was insufficient, as prices were visibly increased without notifying the parties concerned. The traders shouted at the abuse and objected to any increase "We are not responsible for the high cost of living [...] We will not pay a dime more. We will pay the usual amount. Very angry, they left with their money chanting "Down the Mayor Limongy Samson Jean" HL/ HaitiLibre / Guyto Mathieu (correspondent Petit-Goâve)
