Haiti - FLASH : CONATEL denies providing a phone record of Delva to the Senate

While on Tuesday, Senator Jean Renel Sénatus https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27541-haiti-flash-senatus-reveals-the-existence-of-relations-between-the-senator-delva-and-the-head-of-gang-arnel.html claimed to have obtained from the National Council of Telecommunication (CONATEL) a phone record of Senator Garcia Delva confirming confirming the existence of calls between the Senator and the Chief of Gang Arnel; Wednesday David Rodney, the Executive Director of CONATEL, said that his institution has never submitted such a document to the Senate.

It was on the sidelines of a forum organized by CONATEL that Jean David Rodney made this statement stating that the Council did not have a direct relationship with the Senate. He assumes that Senator Sénatus may have wanted to give credibility to his statements by saying that it was CONATEL who had given him Senator Senator Garcia Delva's phone record.

If the phone record of Delva, in the hands of Senatus is true, remains to know where the record comes from and who has provided...

On Wednesday, Senator Gracia Delva went to the invitation of the Justice and Public Safety Commission to answer questions about his phone conversations with Arnel. At the end of this hearing Senator Delva addressing the media did not deny having spoken on the phone with Arnel "I spoke with Arnel as I speak with everyone [...] but I am not there to hurt the society" while refusing to reveal the content of his conversations "Why I can not talk to Arnel Joseph, while other private sector figures clearly show their collaboration with gang leaders [...] it is too easy in Haiti to destroy the personality of people through statements in the press [...]"

Delva denied colluding or having any close connection to the Village-de-Dieu gang leader and stated that if the Commission could prove with the content of his conversations that he had contributed to Arnel's criminal activities he says he will not hesitate to put himself in the hands of the judicial authorities to set an example.

In addition, Delva qualified as theater the official declarations that affirm that Arnel is actively sought by the police, pointing out that "everyone knows where Arnel is."
