Haiti - DR : 1,510 Haitians in an irregular situation arrested and deported to Haiti

The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) continues to conduct daily migratory control actions throughout the Dominican territory and track down where there are Haitians in an irregular situation.

In this context, migration control operations were carried out at the end of April in 10 provinces : Azua, Duarte, Hermanas Mirabal, Espaillat, La Altagracia, La Vega, Montecristi, Santiago de los Caballeros, Valverde and Puerto Plata, as well as in the district national and the municipalities of Santo Domingo West and East, during which 1,911 Haitians were controlled informs the DGM

Immigration Control Officers participated in these operations with the support of the military personnel of the Army, Navy and Air Force of the Dominican Republic and representatives of the Public Prosecution Service of the Provinces and Municipalities referred to above.

After the verification process using biometric readers and the central database, 1,510 compatriots (79%) were declared in an irregular migration situation (paperless or in possession of false documents) and led to the Dajabón border posts and Elías Piña to be registered and deported to Haiti.
