Haiti - Sports : The preparation of our Grenadiers for the Gold Cup, threatened for lack of money
Our Senior Grenadiers, qualified for the Gold Cup and League A of the League of Nations are again in a critical financial situation of the most precarious. For their next two friendly matches against El Salvador (June 2) and Chile (June 6) and their participation in the 15th edition of the Gold Cup (June 15 to July 7, 2019), which will be played in 3 different countries ( United States, Costa Rica, Jamaica), the Haitian Football Federation (FHF) needs approximately $ 400,000 (estimated budget) in order to respond adequately to the processing requirements, which are required by all national selections with respect to their players.

Amount that remains to be found within 3 weeks of the first prep match. However, beyond promises broken, the government seems to remain deaf to the situation and the more days pass and less essential preparatory matches are likely to be achieved ...

The FHF confirms to have written to the Confederation of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF) and to the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) for help, but the deadlines too short, the Haiti's debt to CONCACAF and the strict procedures of FIFA, leaves little hope that one come in time, to the help of the Grenadiers for this major meeting.

Football in Haiti, for lack of funding, depends on others, of their generosity (or their compassion) and forces our country to expose its poverty in the eyes of the world by begging international funds to support the heroes of our sport king. Thus, the displacement in Romania of our young Grenadiers U-17 https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-27501-icihaiti-football-u-17-haiti-romania-%5b0-0%5d-shots-on-goal-%5b2-3%5d.html was paid by CONCACAF and UEFA while moving our U-20 Grenadiers to play the South Ladies cup in France, was funded by FIFA.

Who will pay for the preparation and participation of our Grenadiers in the Gold Cup...?

While the FHF is tirelessly striving to find a solution for our Grenadiers by knocking on every door, President Moïse handed over Friday 6 new buses to 5 football teams (Real Hope Football Academy, Football Inter Club Association (FICA), Sportive Association Capoise (ASC), Ouanaminthe Football Club, the Sportive Association of Trou du Nord and a sixth at the Public University North at Cap Haitien (UPNCH).

Let us hope that the Head of State, beyond these demonstrative gestures, more political than generous, will remember his promises and come quickly to help our Grenadiers who do not deserve to suffer such a precarious situation and who gave everything for their country to qualify at the highest level.
