Haiti - Culture : Launch of the Book Fortnight
Monday, in the gardens of the National Haitian Pantheon Museum (MUPANAH), Max E. Chauvet the Director General of Nouvelliste accompanied by among others Mrs. Michèle Lubin Legros Vice President of Commercial Relations at UNIBANK, writer journalist Émmelie Prophete Director General of the Haitian Office of the Rights of Authors launched the Book Fortnight, as a prelude to the 25th edition of Livres en Folie (20 June), to be held this year at the UNIBANK Park in Tabarre.

This year the organizers of this event, Le Nouvelliste and Unibank, are honoring the academician Dany Laferrière. Filmmaker Arnold Antonin and his documentary films will also be in the spotlight "This guardian of Haitian memory deserves to be honored for taking the initiative to immortalize some authors, writers and musicians in this country," said Chauvet.

Various literary and cultural activities are planned as part of the Book Fortnight, both in Port-au-Prince which Province said Emmelie Prophet citing among others :

  • June 6 at 4:30 pm, at the French Institute, Mirline Pierre de Legs Editions and Sybille Claude will dialogue around "The song of wounds" by Sybile Claude;
  • June 7, the Center Pen Haiti, between 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm will focus around the book trades with the leaders of Legs Editions and Néhémy Pierre-Dahomey, writer and Collection Director at Editions Zulma. In this Center will also be held the projection of an excerpt of the documentary "Best-seller at any price";
  • June 7 at around 6:30 pm at the Anne Marie Morisset Cultural Center, writers will talk about 20th century Haitian novels that have marked them;
  • June 8, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm at the Pen Haiti Center, the book trades come back, with our comic books: Chevelin Pierre, Samuel Suffren. The documentary "Under the bubbles, the other face of comics" will be screened;
  • 9 June Emmelie Prophète reminds that this year, Port-au-Prince will be 270 years old;
  • 12 June, the association "Ink is my home" organizes a guided visit on registration (20 people maximum) of childhood places of Trouillot;
  • June 12, 6:00 pm at the FOKAL / French Institute in Haiti will take place the show "I avenged the race" after the lodyans Maurice Sixto directed by Johny Zephirin;
  • June 14, still visiting with the movement "Nou pran lari a". Excursion to Bel-Air, where Port-au-Prince started;

    In addition, La Book Fortnight will be marked on June 13 by the commemoration of the 270th anniversary of the city of Port-au-Prince and various activities.
