On Monday evening, the journalist Pétion Rospide after having animated a special show "Ti bat bouch" on "Radio Sans Fin" (RSF) who was driving home aboard his vehicle to join his wife and two children, was the victim of an ambush and the target of unidentified individuals at Portail Léogâne, close to the National Theater who opened fire on his vehicle.

Although severely injured, Pétion Rospide continued his route, hoping witoput doubt to join the hospital, before finishing his path around the Street of Arts plastiques, without reaching the rescue, where his dead body was found.

The probability that Pétion Rospide was in the wrong place at the wrong time is dismissed by many of his colleagues who believe that this assassination would be linked to the editorial line of the RSF which has given itself the mission to shed light on the PetroCaribe folder.

Frantz Duval, President of the National Association of Haitian Media (ANMH) lamented this unacceptable crime and called on journalists to be cautious and urged police to protect journalists.

Jovenel Moïse published on his twitter account "The murder of journalist Rospide Pétion of RSF is a odious act. I vehemently condemn this villainous crime, which is once again burying the Haitian press. I take this opportunity to convey my condolences to the family of the deceased and his former collaborators."

It should be noted that RSF officials did not point to any individual or political group in this assassination, waiting to learn more about the investigation opened by the police...
