Haiti - Politic : The OAS says no to the departure of President Moïse 20/06/2019 08:47:22 The OAS states that it does not act as a mediator, but intervenes only to try to put in place the conditions to facilitate the dialogue between President Moïse, political leaders and representatives of civil society, for training inclusive government, but, "without imposing this dialogue". Discussions focused on the political situation, the climate of insecurity, and the facilitation of a national dialogue with the concerned actors "I met the OAS delegation around the current crisis. The interview also focused on the problems of security and precariousness in the country. I remain convinced that dialogue is the only asset that will allow us to resolve our political differences," said the Head of State on his Twitter account. According to one of the members of the OAS delegation, during discussions with the Head of State, the OAS stated that it was opposed to the departure of President Moïse "We will always support the law. If you do not like Moïse, the solution is to beat him to the polls. We will not ask him to resign." In addition, President Moïse agreed with a proposal by the OAS to form a Commission composed of independent international experts in finance, to assist in the audit of the management of PetroCaribe funds. According to an official of the OAS Moïse "is ready to go to Washington to sign and he has nothing to hide." After these exchanges, the OAS delegation met the same day in its offices in Pétion-ville, Rosemond Pradel, the Secretary General of the FUSION, Edgard Leblanc Fils, the National Coordinator of the OPL and the former Senator Keely C. Bastien without being able to convince them to integrate a Government of cohabitation. The OAS delegation did not meet with the private sector or parts of the radical wing of the opposition. "We told them that there is no possibility of dialogue with the President at this stage of the situation [...]" said Kély C. Bastien. "We let them know that for several times we tried to dialogue with the President, but it did not work out," he told the delegation that the Head of State did everything to get there and today he no longer directs anything "[...] keeping him in power will do much more harm to the Haitian people [...]" said Rosemond Pradel For his part, André Michel, spokesman for the radical opposition of the so-called "democratic and popular sector" reacting to this mission of the OAS said "The arrival of the OAS delegation will not change anything in the position of the Democratic and Popular Sector. No political cohabitation is possible with Jovenel Moïse. The solution to the current political crisis inevitably involves the resignation of Jovenel Moïse," adding "we invite the OAS to stand on the side of the people to facilitate the resignation of Jovenel Moïse, which will allow us to engage the construction site of the democratic construction as provided for in the Charter of the Organization."
