While the Electricity of Haiti (EDH) has increased its production of energy, the company is still experiencing so many difficulties to make his bills pay by consumers.

In Port-au-Prince, out of 23,200 subscribers less than 10% have paid their bill and out of 1.5 billion Gourdes unpaid in June 2019, only 10 million were recovered.

EDH stresses that individuals are not the only ones responsible for the debt of the Company, out of a total of 20 billion debts (accumulated unpaid accounts in April 2019) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27561-haiti-notice-edh-announces-a-debt-of-more-than-20-billion-and-threatens-the-bad-payers.html 14 billion unpaid bills are due to Businesses in Port-au-Prince and the provinces, Industries, Street Lighting, Autonomous Organizations in Port-au-Prince and in the Provinces and Public Bodies (Ministries, Schools...)

While reminding that the bad payers who have accumulated large amounts of arrears can negotiate a payment method spread with the EDH, Jose Davilmar, head of communication of the company warns that the EDH will go into action and after several warnings, will make public the list of bad payers on its website.

Adding that at the time of the publication of this list, the EDH intends to use all legal means to get paid what is due to it, ranging from summons to arrest, recalling that the law allows the EDH to prosecute in court all the customers who do not honor their debts.
