Haiti - Security : Graduation of 67 new police commissioners
On Thursday morning, at the National Police Academy on the Road of Frères, President Jovenel Moïse accompanied by the resigning Prime Minister Jean Michel Lapin, in the presence of the Haitian Senate President, Carl Muray Cantave, representatives of the Judiciary, members of the High State Major of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), the Diplomatic Corps, Independent Institutions, the civil society and the Minujusth, took part by at the graduation ceremony of the 6th Promotion of Commissioners.

The 6th Promotion of Commissaires of the Police Academy is made up of 67 winners recruited by competition, who have received 7 months of training and who each have at least 24 years of career in the PNH. These Police Commissioners have the role of ensuring the management of public security, the development of programs for the fight against insecurity and delinquency.

"The handing over of parchments to these 67 Commissioners is the proof of my administration of endowing our institutions with efficient, dynamic and responsible executives [...] M Mwen profite salye travay la polis la pou mete bandi anba kòd nan tout peyi a (...) Zafè sekirite se zafè nou tout," said Jovenel Moïse

In his speech, Michel-Ange Gédéon Director General of the PNH declared :

"[...] Entering the front door at the National Police Academy after successfully completing a grade-crossing competition where there were many people called, the divisional inspectors were 70 to cross the fence on December 9, 2018.

Today, they are 67 happy elected. It's a crowning achievement after more than 24 years of hard work. Let them be proud because they arrived on this steep mountain, not by cronyism or favoritism, but by individual merit.

In 1995, you were fresh as the initiators of a good cause. For 24 years, you have gained experience in a work atmosphere that sometimes leaves to be desired. But today you have taken a definite option to end your career in the big leagues. How beautiful patience and courage are in hard work and excellence !

[...]

Dear student commissioners, stay away from partisan political wrangling, which sometimes has nothing to do with Haiti. It is at this price that you will be good professionals. You will then have in you all the values capable of allowing you to make a long career [...]"
