Haiti - Economy : The fuel subsidy cost 7 billion per month to the State
While users oppose an increase in fuel prices at the pump, some do not hesitate to pay the precious liquid up to 1,000 gourdes the gallon on the black market.

Ignace Saint-Fleur, the director of the Office for Monetization of Development Assistance Programs (BMPAD) revealed on a radio station of the capital, that by continuing to subsidize the price of fuel at the pump, the Haitian State loses more than 7 billion gourdes each month, which affects the functioning of the publc service, including the payment of salaries of civil servants. On Wednesday, the work stoppage of the tank truck drivers was lifted following an agreement between the truckers and the General Director of the Office for Monetization of Development Assistance Programs (BMPAD).
