Haiti - Environment : 6 Haitian scholars in the Dominican Republic

As part of the Caribbean Corridor Biological Project and the Cuba-Haiti-Dominican Republic Tripartite Agreement, 6 Haitian Fellows (3 men, 3 women) in Environment and Natural Resource Management, selected from among the best applicants, left to the neighboring Republic, to begin a 3-year degree course at the National Institute of Higher Education in Environment and Natural Resource Management in the city of Piedra Blanca, Jaboracoa, Dominican Republic.

Joseph Jouthe, the Minister of the Environment, emphasized the importance of this approach between the 3 countries to strengthen their respective ministry of environment in qualified human resources, with a view to environmental rehabilitation. Addressing the Fellows, Minister Jouthe urged them to leave the country, to devote themselves entirely to their studies, so that back home, they could put their knowledge and experience to the benefit of the development of the Motherland "Be worthy ambassadors of the Haitian nation, during all the time you spend in neighboring lands."

As part of this initiative of the Caribbean Corridor, three promotions of young Haitian technicians have already benefited from this training. 1st Promotion (2010-2013) 3 graduates out of 3, 2nd Promotion second (2013-2016), 3 graduates on 3 and 3rd Promotion (2016-2019), 4 graduates out of 6 students.
