Haiti - Politic : Jean-Baptiste Bien-Aimé is not favorable to the creation of an army 04/05/2011 15:01:06
On the sidelines of a meeting on the presentation of the ecological project of linear park between Dajabón and Ouanaminthe, Jean-Baptiste Bien-Aimé, the new Senator (INITE) of North East [ex-consul of Dajabón] declared that "it is not necessary to create a new army in Haiti [...] In this regard, I must say that the armies in Haiti have historically served only to punish". He believes that we should instead work on the strengthening of the police and its professionalism. A declaration that occurs at the time where the President Michel Martelly, promotes the creation of a new modern army in Haiti.
Also, the Senator indicated that he was working on a project to decentralize the services of the State, so that his countrymen do not have to travel to Port-au-Prince to obtain official documents... He indicated that he also worked with Sonia Mateo Espinosa, Senator of the Province of Dajabón in order that the border area benefits from development projects.
