Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the acting Minister of the Interior and Local Authorities https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-28847-haiti-flash-the-minister-of-the-interior-exit-by-the-little-door.html vehemently condemns the fire attempt on the premises of the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration (DIE), Lalue https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-28929-icihaiti-insecurity-fire-attempt-at-the-premises-of-the-directorate-of-immigration-and-emigration.html by ill-intentioned individuals, on the morning of Friday, October 4. These facts occurred when they projected a molotov cocktail against the building, causing a start of fire.

The Minister points out "This criminal act has endangered the lives of Immigration Agents as well as applicants for passports and foreigners applying for residence permits, present in the building at the time of the facts. This serious and reprehensible incident is the second attempt of its kind perpetrated by individuals claiming to be of the opposition and sometimes demonstrating violently on public roads.

While inviting the population to cooperate with the police in order to put an end to this kind of practices, the Ministry of the Interior together with the competent public institutions will immediately take steps to identify and refer the perpetrators and co-perpetrators of these offenses in court."
