Haiti - Sport : The boxer American-Haitian Patrick Day in coma

Saturday, at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, IL, the 27-year-old Haitian-American boxer Patrick Day of Freeport, New York, returns to the ring after his defeat in June in New York against Carlos Adames, who faced his compatriot Charles Conwell in a super-middleweight bout, collapsed KO in the tenth round, on a terrible hook from Conwell's left, after being seriously shaken by a right hook.

Evacuated from the ring on a stretcher, he convulsed in the ambulance and oxygenated and taken to the Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

According to the ESPN sports channel, Patrick Day has had a brain operation and is in a coma.

"Patrick is in a coma caused by the injury" he suffered in the ring "he is in an extremely critical condition," said Sunday evening Lou DiBella the organizer of fighting.

No further details were given about the exact nature of his injury, and no release from his promoter, Matchroom Boxing.
