Haiti - FLASH : «The power is the people...» dixit Jovenel Moïse
Tuesday noon, October 15 in the gardens of the National Palace, President Jovenel Moïse at a press conference dismissed any possibility of resigning and again called for dialogue, making the system responsible for the current situation of the country explaining "The system is regenerating only in the transition [...] It would be irresponsible for me if I had to sign the letter of resignation today and let the system regenerate..."

For those who feel that he has no legitimacy to run the country, Moïse reminds them that he has a constitutional mandate. Stating "The legitimacy of a President is on one side, there are not many it's in the elections, I want it to be clear [...]"

Regarding his resignation, he said he listened to the people and the street reminding "Power is the People [via elections]! The people who listen to me, who look at me, it is to them that I will deliver it [via other elections at the end of its mandate] [...] The Constitution is clear. The people voted me in the last election. The Constitution specifies when I must leave power and how to do it. Power belongs to the people and the people gave me power..."

"I say to the people in the streets that I hear his voice. When you made the decision to vote me as President, you expected changes in your life. I understand that today things are not easy, to not say the least difficult. You voted me to come to war against the system [...]"

He explained that the country's current situation was the result of certain decisions he had taken against the system in place, denouncing what he called "heirs to the system" who were displeased with him because he had terminated contracts public-private "unfair and inegalitarian" the deniers of tens of millions of dollars and who are now fighting against him, behind the demonstrations, without naming a name to create more tension adding "[...] follow my eyes and you'll understand who I'm talking about..."

He asserts that he is aware that the expectations of the population are not satisfied and that the challenges are real, explaining that to fulfill his promises, he must have the support of Parliament, recalling that the latter had dismissed the Government Céant while he had several projects with international donors for billions of dollars that have since been blocked. He also pointed out that for eight months Haiti had no government, pointing the finger at elected officials in Parliament who have done everything to prevent the establishment of a new Government "There are discontents, my role is to speak with the people who are my only boss. Now I will talk to him often..."

While considering that the situation of the country is not as desperate as it seems, the Head of State who advocates a radical change of the system, reaffirmed that it is only in the dialogue with all sectors that can change the system and find a solution to the crisis.
