Haiti - Security : Superior Council of the National Police this weekend

The Office of the Secretary of State for Communication informs the population that the President of the Republic, Jovenel Moïse, attended during the weekend an enlarged National Police Superior Council (CSPN) which took place at the National Palace.

At the side of the members of the CSPN there were 10 departmental delegates 10 Departmental Director of the Police during the meeting that took place on Saturday, October 26, 2019 for several hours.

Head of State Jovenel Moïse wanted to learn about the security situation in the four corners of the country.

On this occasion, the President of the CSPN, the resigning Prime Minister Jean Michel Lapin, has passed instructions to the authorities concerned so that good arrangements are made to strengthen the National Police of Haiti (PNH) at all levels, develop a collaboration with all other entities of the State so that peace and serenity return to the whole national territory.

Jean Michel Lapin, on the precarious situation of the police, said "In the short term, we are working on put money [debit] cards of police officers," he also confirmed that the government will see how it can provide a response to the problems of materials and equipment raised by the police offciers, he asks them to show understanding of the difficulties of the government to respond immediately to all their claims "The police officers must note that some problems can be solved in the following days, but there are others that require the State to have means "We will set up a commission on the question of wages. This commission will be tasked with analyzing the salaries of all government officials to see what response can be given to this problem. But as I said, it requires means."
