Haiti - Economy : The workers consider insufficient the increase of 19% of the minimum wage 08/11/2019 08:19:46 For the National Central of Workers' Unions of Haiti (CNOA), the new minimum wage scale is insignificant and considers that it is a diversion of the Government to break the mobilization of workers who demand the resignation of President Jovenel Moïse . Dominique Saint-Éloi the President of the CNOA reminds that the wage demands of the workers are 1500 gourdes per day combined with social benefits. Former Senator Steven Benoît, the originator of the Minimum Wage Law in 2009, considers that the Government's proposal is a wage cut due to inflation (19.5% in August, the last available official figure) .
