Edwing Charles, the Minister of Youth and Sports learned with pain and emotion the death of the famous sports journalist Michel Giraud (77) occurred early Friday, December 6, 2019 following an asthma attack.

"The sports sector as a whole is mourning a giant whose discipline, seriousness and tenacity should inspire his peers," said Minister Charles who invites the Haitian Sports Press Association to reflect on how best to "perpetuate the memory of this Mapou of the Haitian sports press."

Referee and sports journalist, Giraud has devoted an incomparable passion to sport and in particular to the national football he has served for several decades. He had the largest database of dozens of editions of the national championships. His small notebooks filled with statistics, data and information on several generations of football players have earned him the great recognition of his colleagues and constitute a great legacy bequeathed to future generations of the Haitian sports press.

"In these painful circumstances, the Minister Charles" presents his sympathies to his family, to the sports press deeply saddened by this disappearance which leaves a great void. The Minister wants the whole corporation to offer Michel Giraud a tribute to the dimension of his passion and his immense work.
