The World Bank has just released the 17th Edition of its Doing Business 2020 report, which analyzes the economic environment of 190 countries.

Haiti with a score of 40.7 out of 100 (+ 2.8%) for the ease of doing business, finds itself in 179th position out of 190 countries, a advance of 3 places compared to 2019 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-26003-haiti-flash-doing-business-2019-haiti-in-the-top-10-worst-countries.html just behind the Republic of Congo (178th).

If Haiti out this year of the Top 10 worst economies in the world thanks mainly to the broadening of the coverage of its credit bureaus in the indicator "obtaining loans" which allows it to make a jump of 34 places and find itself at the 144th position against 178th the previous year.

Despite this small advancement from 3 place, the report stresses that Haiti has not improved the business climate nor evolved in several categories or the country is still poorly classified reflecting the inability of Haiti to attract investment and generate growth and jobs.

• Category: "business creation" (Haiti 189th out of 190), it takes 97 days to start a business in Haiti compared to 16.5 in the Dominican Republic ;

• Category: "protection of minority investors (Haiti 183 out of 90);

• Category: "transfer of property "(182nd out of 190), it takes 319 days (6 procedures) to register a property against 33 days in the Republic ;

• Category: "obtaining a building permit "(Haiti 179th out of 190);

• Category: "insolvency settlement (Haiti 168th out of 190);

• Category: "payment of taxes "(Haiti 149th out of 190);

• Category: "connection to electricity" (Haiti 147th out of 190);

• Category: "execution of contracts ”(Haiti 127th out of 190).
