Heavy swell alert

Sailors of sailboats or small boats (rowboat, bwa fouye) must avoid the high seas on all the coasts of Haiti until Saturday, January 11, 2020, inform the Hydrometeorological Unit of Haiti (UHM) in its last bulletin published this Thursday. According to the bulletin, the waves can reach up to 17 feet (5.18m) in height on the south coasts, 14 feet (4.26m) on the north coasts and 13 feet (3.96 m) in the Gulf of La Gonâve (opposite of Port-au-Prince bay). The UHM warns that isolated showers remain possible in the evening, especially on the reliefs of the departments of North, North-West and South of Haiti.

10 years after the earthquake of January 12, 2010, where more than 2 million Haitians had been displaced in camps, 22 sites are still open where 34,000 Haitians live in temporary shelters designed to last 2 to 3 years...

Denial by Renald Lubérice

Renald Lubérice, the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers has denied rumors suggesting that he had expressed his position on the term of office of elected officials saying "I have not expressed myself on the mandate of any elected official" adding that he would not speak about it before Monday, January 13, end of the 50th legislature when the mandate of all the deputies and normally of a third of the Senators ends, making the Parliament dysfunctional.

Establishment of a new Government postponed

While the Head of State had announced the establishment of a Government before the end of 2019, Guichard Doré, President Moise's Political Advisor, informs that it will be done in a few weeks.

Senator Sénatus in favor of a political agreement...

Senator Jean Renel Sénatus is in favor of the adoption of a political agreement which will facilitate the formation of a government to tackle the great challenges facing the country. He describes as a "great defeat" for the young Haitian democracy, the dysfunction of the Parliament after January 13, 2020.
