Haiti - Politic : Youri Latortue challenges Jovenel Moïse

Following the announcement by President Jovenel Moïse, of the end of the 50th legislature and of the institutional vacuum "This Monday, January 13, 2020 brings back the end of the 50th legislature. We note the lapse of the Parliament and we take note of this institutional vacuum caused by the departure of the Chamber of Deputies and 2/3 of the Senate" Gary Bodeau, Deputy of Delmas 2016-2020, President of the Chamber of Deputies / Vice-President of the National Assembly 2018-2020, declared :

"I take note of the decision of Jovenel Moïse to note the lapse of the parliament. Consequently, I invite the Haitians to come together to draft a new inclusive Constitution which will make it possible to redefine the rules of the game and to govern differently."

While for Senator Youri Latortue at no time does the President have the right to dismiss elected officials "Mandate of Senators : article 94.2 of the Constitution refers to the electoral law. This law, in its article 50.3, fixed the mandate of the first Senators at 6 years. I challenge Jovenel Moïse, who says he wants to apply the Constitution, to prove the contrary."

For his part, President Moïse considers this institutional vacuum as a historic opportunity for the actors to come together in order to initiate the reforms which must lead to the transformation of this predatory State into a servant State which will put an end to this permanent crisis which jeopardizes the future of the country.
