Haiti - Sports : First work of the National Anti Doping Commission 31/01/2020 10:15:14
Edwing Charles, the Minister of Youth and Sports accompanied by its Director General Mario Florvil, launched this week the first works of the National Anti Doping Commission in Sport (CONADS).
Note that this Commission was created by presidential decree on January 17, 2019, in order to take measures relating to the design of prevention, training and awareness programs to combat the scourge while applying the world anti-doping code. Recall that without the effective control of doping in sport in Haiti, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) had threatened Haiti in January 2019 to exclude Haitian sportsmen from all international competitions https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-25579-haiti-flash-haiti-can-be-excluded-from-all-international-sports-competitions.html due to the absence of such an agency https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27089-haiti-sports-advances-in-the-sports-field-in-the-country.html https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13197-haiti-sports-towards-the-establishment-of-a-national-anti-doping-agency.html
This Commission is composed of 5 members:
- Ernst Gilmus, senior official of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MJSAC);
- Jude Désir, Director of the Physical Activities and Sports Department (DAPS) of the MJSAC;
- Me Alcide Laguerre, President of the Petit-Goâve Bar Association;
- Me Carol Chalmers, representative of the Haitian Olympic Committee (COH);
- Dr. Jessy Pierre, representative of the COH.
The Minister Charles reminded the members of the Commission of the circumstances of the creation of the latter before inviting the commissioners to join the Federations in their difficult mission to combat doping.
The resolutions of these first works will be submitted to Minister Charles who has shown his determination to provide the sector with the tools necessary for its development. Note that under his administration, the Ethics Commission Against Abuse, Violence and Harassment in Sport (CECAVHAS) was also created https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-29684-haiti-politic-towards-the-regulation-of-the-practice-of-sport-in-haiti.html and the Procedures for Registration and Recognition of Sport Organizations have been adopted in view of a rational practice of sport across the country https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-29802-icihaiti-politic-another-step-towards-the-regulation-of-sports-organizations-in-the-country.html
